REFERENCE SIRE: IBN HISAN 1985 black purebred Arabian stallion
Ibn Hisan came to Diamond Magic Arabians in 2006, when he was 21 years old. I enjoyed getting to know him, then enjoyed riding him for two years, until an injury put an end to his career as a saddle horse and breeding stallion. The two center photos above were taken by my friend, Gerry Gorman, in 2008. The "bookend" photos (left & right, above) were snapped by me in March, 2010, on the morning when Ibn Hisan opened his pasture gate & "went visiting." He is a very sweet, good-natured fellow, easy to catch, easy to handle, & a horse that anyone could ride. And his offspring have inherited his calm, gentle nature.
I am thankful that Ibn Hisan has blessed my life for the past 5 years, and hope he will remain healthy and happy for many more years to come.
The pedigree of Ibn Hisan is unusual, perhaps unique. His sire was the black, straight Egyptian show Champion Bahim Hisan, the rearing horse in the Busch TV commercial. Ibn Hisan's dam was the beautiful black Raffon++ daughter, Gamar Mirage, an Aristocrat Mare, dam of Champions, and full sister to Taffona, dam of Huckleberry Bey.
Ibn Hisan was shown in pleasure driving at the age of 4, then I'm told he was used as a working ranch horse for over 10 years. He came to Texas in 2006 and has found his forever home here at Diamond Magic Arabians. Although he is no longer ridden, and no longer used for breeding, Ibn Hisan is still the "king of the pasture" and spends his days grazing and talking to the mares. He shares his pasture with my 1985 grey mare, Angelfire Shahna, and 1986 bay gelding, Angelfire Beau ... 3 senior citizens whom I love dearly, with whom I share many wonderful memories.
